Muspell Archive 4.0

Document Upload Functionality for Legacy Scans

With the ‘Document Upload for Legacy Scans’ feature, Muspell Archive closes a critical gap in patient records. Sometimes, when some patient records are found, after a legacy system has been sunsetted, those documents can be uploaded directly to a patient’s archive using the Legacy Scans screen. This update ensures these late-located records are stored securely, mapped to FHIR, and made available for future Release of Information (ROI)—eliminating the need to manage disconnected systems or ad-hoc storage solutions.

Key Features

  • Upload PDFs to Patient Records in Legacy Scans
  • Edit, Delete & Audit Document Interactions
  • Secure FHIR Mapping & Access Control
  • Simplified Release of Information (ROI) Workflows

1. Upload PDFs to Patient Records in Legacy Scans: Users with appropriate access can upload one or more PDF documents tied to a specific patient and legacy source system. Documents are stored securely in S3 and represented by FHIR DocumentReference resources.
2. Edit, Delete & Audit Document Interactions: Uploaded documents can be viewed, edited, or deleted from the Legacy Scans screen by users with permissions. The system supports multiple documents per patient, collapsible editing views for ease of use, and Matomo tracking for audit visibility.
3. Secure FHIR Mapping & Access Control: All document metadata is aligned to FHIR standards for interoperability and compliance. Access to upload and delete functionality is controlled through role-based settings. The Legacy Scans screen is only visible when at least one document exists for the selected patient and source system, preserving user focus and system performance.
4. Simplified Release of Information (ROI) Workflows: By adding late-discovered documents directly to the patient’s archived record, the process of releasing information becomes simpler and more consistent. This eliminates the need to look through separate storage systems or keep track of physical files—everything is stored together in one place, securely and in an organized format, making it easier to retrieve when needed.
