What is Certificate of Need (CON)?
A Certificate of Need (CON) refers to a certificate that is issued to an individual or an organization by a federal body with the aim of constructing or modifying a health facility or acquiring new medical equipment. It was mainly brought about to have control over the expansion of facilities and services in a health system with the goal of preventing any duplication.
